California wine: Do you think it is evn better than French wine?

Published by at 6:22 am under california wine

I like California wines better (and they cost less too).

Some California wine is. In fact, California isn’t the only place in the US that makes great wine. Don’t diss US wine! At the same time, French wine can be exquisite. There are good wines from Spain, Portugal, and some from Germany, too. In fact, South American wine is nothing to sneeze at.

Can you tell I like wine?

Yes. Remember, CA beat France in a blind tasting back in 1978. I find CA wines more accessible and less pretentious.

I think it depends on taste…I have some French wines I love as well as some US, Italian and Spanish. Taste is what matter not cost or location. IMO. And I am not wine expert :)

Lately I’ve been buying Australian. They are so good (and cheap!!!)This brand called Rolling has been on sale at my grocery store 3 for $10. Both the chard and shiraz are amazing!

California is the best at everything. Wine is no different. Caymus Conundrum, baby.

what really matters is how drunk you get. as long as a wine is drinkable and doesnt taste like rotten cough syrup (had that experience once…and would rather not repeat it) i dont give a shit where its from.

Every thing has it’s goods and it’s bads. I’m a member of a wine club and they alternate the county/region from which the wines of the month come from. Last month I tryed an excellent french wine called "Chateauneufdu Pape" 2004 It is truly elegant and sweet, but a bit pricey, For the most part I will be more than happy with a nice Alexander valley wine, but if I’m having a very special dinner with loved ones I might pony up the extra bucks and make a big deal over the fancier French wine. Kinda silly huu?
